Our Service

An outline of how we work

What To Do First

If Worthing Emergency Vets provides your vet's out of hours service:

  1. Always call Worthing Emergency Vets first (01903 203999) to let us know you are coming
  2. Give a brief description of the problem so we can prepare for your arrival
  3. Let us know with which practice you are usually registered

What To Expect On Arrival

You will be seen by the vet as soon as possible. If the vet is busy with another patient, a nurse will assess your pet's condition and liaise with the vet if required. The sickest pets will be prioritised.

Please do not hesitate to contact Worthing Emergency Vets if you are in any way worried, we are always here to help you and your pet - telephone 01903 203999.

Below are some situations where your pet needs immediate veterinary attention. This list is by no means exhaustive and if you are in any doubt, it is always better to be safe than sorry:

  • If your dog's abdomen looks bloated
  • If your pet is straining to pass urine (especially male cats)
  • Any physical trauma, e.g. hit by a car
  • If your pet collapses
  • If your pet is bleeding
  • If your pet's gums are paler than normal
  • If your pet is having difficulty breathing/is choking
  • If your pet is having a seizure/seems uncoordinated
  • If your dog is having difficulty giving birth (whelping)
  • If your cat is having difficulty giving birth (kittening)
